when i put fedora 5 in my amd64 machine, and i'm beginning the install, it all of the sudden stops. and says that there is a bug, and just quits. i've tried both the amd64 and 386 versions, and both did the same thing. whats goin on? do i just have bad hardware?

I had a problem with the FC5 installer and my video card, an S3 Trio 3D (something like that). I was able to get it to install by giving the installer an option to use (I think) a virtual framebuffer video mode. If this is your video card, you can find the full process online with a bunch of help from Google. The process was not completely straighforward, and I'm sorry that I forget the details.
