I download the torrent popped it into my current windows machine

gives me an error

couldn't find valid ramdisk image starting at 0
cannot open root device "null"
kernel panic or something

or something very similar, its shoots by too fast and i keep trying to write it all down. i had an already existing partition set up for it so i removed it. and still got the same error.

the error goes by and then is followed by things like

[<c01012b17>] something_here_0x5/0514

and it stops at
[<c01012b17>]kenerl_thread_helper_0x5/0x14

and stops working, i have let it sit and nothing happens


any help will be greatly appreciated.

got it installed using the mediacheck trick

I used to have a lot with the installation process....a bit like you, a lot of things that amounted to the system saying...well never mind what it said, the thing wouldn't install event though the media check told me the dvd was fine.
The problem I had came from one of my DDR modules. I stepped down the 333Mhz DDR clock to 266 Mhz via the bios and now everything works fine, I could install without any problem. I think FC uses memory in a much thorough way than windows, and any defect messes up th whole thing.
