Please help me in installng the scilab.
I have tried with scilab rpm and i am getting message
rpm -Uvh scilab-gtk-4.0-1.fc5.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
libtk8.4.so is needed by scilab-gtk-4.0-1.i386
tk >= 8.4.0 is needed by scilab-gtk-4.0-1.i386
So, I have tried to install tk and then i got message as
rpm -Uvh tk-8.4.9-3.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
tcl = 8.4.9 is needed by tk-8.4.9-3.i386
So next i have tried for tcl and got message
rpm -Uvh tcl-8.4.9-3.i386.rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
package tcl-8.4.13-1.1 (which is newer than tcl-8.4.9-3) is already installed
.
So , I am fade up. plz Please someone help me and provide me the solution.
wht to do in such case ?
I'm not an expert at this, but if your tk doesn't like the installed version of tcl, you may be able to install the older version with a switch for rpm to allow an older version to be installed over the newer one. You may want to look for dependencies on the newer one so that you don't break anything by installing the older version. If that doesn't help, I'll have to defer to someone with more knowledge than I have.
Thanks for ur help frnd.
Temporarily i have installed scilab using its binary version
scilab-4.0.bin.linux-i686.tar.gz
This is working fine
If someone get exact solution .. plz post a reply .
