Problem booting Fedora Core 2 install from DOS
Hello everyone,
My computer doesn't boot from the CD drive, and I'm trying to install Fedora Core 2. As you probably know, Fedora Core 2 doesn't have a floppy boot option because the files are too large for a floppy disk. I'm happy with Fedora Core 1, but I need ALSA, and I haven't had any luck getting ALSA installed on Core 1.
In trying to use a round about boot method others have used successfully to install Fedora Core 2, I
(1) created a DOS partition and installed FreeDOS
(2) created a "boot" directory in the FreeDOS partition
(3) copied autoboot.bat and loadlin.exe into the "boot" directory. (I downloaded autoboot.bat and loadlin.exe from the Fedora Core 1 "dosutils". To my knowledge, "dosutils" don't exist for Fedora Core 2).
(4) created an "autoboot" directory inside "boot"
(5) copied the contents of Fedora Core 2 "isolinux" into the "autoboot" directory.
When I execute "autoboot.bat," vmlinuz seems to run, but I then get the following message:
Uncompressing Linux
Ran out of input data
--System halted
Any ideas? Is the initrd.img file bad?
Thanks.
Michael
