problem booting FC2

I have an emachines M5116 laptop with XP and Mandrake and thought I would try Fedora as well.

hda 1 = XP, hda 5 = M10, hda 6 = swap, hda 7 = data

I installed FC2 on the free space, = hda 3. The install went OK but on initial boot all I got was the word GRUB at the top of the screen and a blinking cursor, with nothing happening.

Is this normal, what should I do next?

Go panic !! Well .. I did anyway and reformatted my HD .. that was the day when FC2 was out for public consumption and there wasn't any documented procedure to recover the problem..

Thanks. That is useful. I think I may just wait for a later release when they've fixed the bug. It seems a major problem to have been inculded with a release!

I keep on with just Mandrake for now.
