Printer must be reconfigured with each startup

I have a "HP desktjet 5650w", and I read that it works fine with the "Deskjet 990C" driver,
and guess what, it works GREAT!

but EVERYTIME I restart I must go into the printer configuration, select the printer, choose to edit config, do nothing; then press ok, choose apply in the printers redhat-config program. And all programs so far print.

why exactly is this happening?
