If possible, list a few reliable Podcast clients for FC4 (2.6.17-1.2142). In Windows XP I use "Juice," but would like a reliable, preferrably RPM packaged, client.
I have tried many media players but none have good podcast support. Juice is masked in Portage, and last time ran it under Windows it had some pretty annoying bugs. Are you on GNOME, KDE, or something else? I use amaroK right now, but it is very slow because a) I am running GNOME, so the system has to run the KDE libraries; and b) the developers made it run with lots of eye candy and pretty textures, which I couldn't care less about. Then again, my computer only has 256MB RAM, so that might explain why it is so slow.
I have also tried gpodder, which seems to be okay. Rhythmbox has no podcast client features, and Banshee does ONLY with a plugin. That plugin will only work with the unstable release of Banshee, and I didn't want to mess with that.
Good luck! I found this on another thread:
jpodder DOT com
(Sorry about that, but I am new, and they will not let me post a link here.)
Official packages in distributions:
Gentoo Linux: media-sound/gpodder (thanks to Hanno Böck)
Contributed buildfiles, pkgfiles, etc:
Slackware Linux: slackmatic build (thanks to Charles Lear)
Crux Linux: Pkgfile (thanks to Mattias Hedenskog)
ArchLinux: PKGBUILD (thanks to William Rea)
I have Fedora Core 4 distribution, wich archivo do I install? I don't know how to install the .deb package on FC4.
Woah, I have no idea. I've never worked with anything BUT Gentoo, so I don't know about Fedora. It uses RPM, right? I have no clue about how to work with RPM. Sorry about that.
Couldn;t ou ust download the source code and compile it yourself? That's what Gentoo does most of the time. Try the Gentoo download, you should get a .tar.gz file.
