Please Help.....!! Getting highly irritated with rpm database error


Hi everyone

while installing perl-xml parser in fedora core 6 using yum i have got the following message

error: db4 error(-30977) from db->close: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery
rpmdb: PANIC: fatal region error detected; run recovery

i have got the same error when i have installed ntfs-3g using yum.....

I need to restrart my comp to install any other rpm file....HIGHLY IRRITATING
I cant use the command rpm with out restarting

i have tried the command
rpm --rebuilddb
[root@fedora linux]# rpm --rebuilddb
rpmdb: PANIC: fatal region error detected; run recovery
error: db4 error(-30977) from dbenv->open: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery
error: cannot open Packages index using db3 - (-30977)


what make this error to come???

Please help me to overcome this error message...

The quickest way to fix this is:
cd /var/lib/rpm; rm __db.00?
this will remove the db files. Next time you run rpm the will be recreated.
