I install the rpms: smpeg-xmms and xmmplayer, but xmms still don't play mpg videos. I have xmms release 1.2.10.
What can I do?

salparadise 09-11-2004 04:44 AM

launch xmms from the command line

xmms /name/of/file

and see what error messages are generated

then post them here

I launch xmms from the command line
with the command xmms /name/of/file.
The xmms opens but is blocked and dont't play nothing

will the file play in anything else?
I've not tried xmms with anything other than mp3's and oggs, because I've always used xine (my personal favourite) or mplayer (the kmplayer front end to mplayer is pretty good).

http://dag.wieers.com/packages/smpeg/ ( a small mpeg player )

Worth browsing this site (if you don't already know it) there's a fair bit of stuff for Fedora.

I use gxine because kplayer don't play radio streams so fine as gxine. But I have curiosity about play mpg in xmms, because I tried knoppix and in that distro xmms play mpg with no difficulty.
