pirut - showing error message
when i tried to launch pirut the er message was --
cannot find a valid baseurl for repo:core how can i fix it |
connect to the internet, that's where pirut is trying to look, it uses yum's repos
If you can't get on the net, you either have to add your DVD drive to yum base repo. This works fine with DVDs but if you have CD's yum/pirut doesn't know what programs are on which CD, so it's easier to install the rpms on your HD |

But could you tell me how to add your DVD drive to the yum base repo? It's been annoying the heck out of me that I need to be connected, as I have rather limited bandwidth and would hate to download something that I actually have right here on disk.. Thanks :D |

what i got from yur posts , is that we r not havin the same package manager as it was there in the previous distros ..:tisk: means i hav to do somthing like copying/mounting all the disks somwhere on the disk .. the givin its location to pirut .n it wil work .. silly .. neother way to fix it ????? if thn post it here . |
n if m not having enough space to copy the rpms on the disk thn what i wll do ??
also m not havin the internet access ..:( |
Well DVD's work ok, so if you can't source one (from a magazine or online order) can you copy the CD rpm's to a DVD?
I think you can install from the CD's, it's just the dependency issue makes it awkward, (although there's another problem, the CD's have a few rpms missing!!!!). If there's cross dependencies, you'll need to copy all the needed rpms to HD. As a last resort a reinstall making sure you get everything you're likely to want installed. You're right it does seem silly, not every body has internet access let alone broadband. |
well r there rpms missing on the cd's ?
 ya i hav installed it from the cd's n i m gng to make the dvd from them ..
can yu tell which rpms are missing on the cds ,.. |
