pirut - showing error message

when i tried to launch pirut the er message was --

cannot find a valid baseurl for repo:core

how can i fix it

connect to the internet, that's where pirut is trying to look, it uses yum's repos

If you can't get on the net, you either have to add your DVD drive to yum base repo.
This works fine with DVDs but if you have CD's yum/pirut doesn't know what programs are on which CD, so it's easier to install the rpms on your HD

Sorry to hijack the thread... ;)

But could you tell me how to add your DVD drive to the yum base repo?

It's been annoying the heck out of me that I need to be connected, as I have rather limited bandwidth and would hate to download something that I actually have right here on disk..

Thanks :D

narendra.pant 09-17-2006 02:38 PM

n if m not having enough space to copy the rpms on the disk thn what i wll do ??

Well DVD's work ok, so if you can't source one (from a magazine or online order) can you copy the CD rpm's to a DVD?

I think you can install from the CD's, it's just the dependency issue makes it awkward, (although there's another problem, the CD's have a few rpms missing!!!!). If there's cross dependencies, you'll need to copy all the needed rpms to HD.

As a last resort a reinstall making sure you get everything you're likely to want installed.

You're right it does seem silly, not every body has internet access let alone broadband.
