peculiar modem detection problem in FC 6

Hello,

I am using FC 6 and previously FC 5.

I have a external typical 56k modem. Im used to work it with kppp and all were going just
fine. But with FC 6 there is no detection. I used the same settings but it doesn't seem to
recognize it. I haven't changed the port (I used serial) connected.

Any ideas what's wrong? Beside that what commands are there to determine whether it is a detection
problem or what? Anyone had any similar problem before.

Waiting for any help.

This is a modem that is connected to /dev/ttyS0? If so, do get get any output from the command:

Code:
grep ttyS /var/log/messages
You might need to be root to read that file.
