Panel Icons

I tried making some panel icons for some programs I installed so I could access them easier but when I try and move around any of the icons it sometimes will result in breaking the link and the icon will turn into an orange question mark and forget everything about itself. Can anyone explain this, or have this issue also?

It's only -25 celsius here tonight, you must be a little further north.

Usually what I do in my Mandrake 10.2 is right click on the desktop and select "create new link to application",(KDE) then find the appropriate icon such as the burning fox wrapped around the world when I installed Firefox 2, then in Application tab/page I put Firefox in the Description field, then in the command field I put /usr/local/firefox/./firefox, which is where I put it, click OK. Then I delete old firefox icon in panel, then drag & drop new one from desktop into the panel. Then delete original new one off the desktop.

Is that the steps you used?, I've not done this in Fedora as I've not got that far as to install Firefox 2 yet, Fedora keeps me busy just keeping it stable.

Yes I've had that happen using gnome, but not for a while, I remember it was very frustrating, it's not happening now. I haven't done anything specific to fix it, may be one of the updates did it?
