Package Management tool doesn't see installed packages (FC1)

i've seen this in other threads like:
LinuxQuestions.org > Forums > Linux - Software >packages could not be located! but installed!!
(threadid=169010])
but haven't found a solution anywhere.

I run the Package Management tool and select the X Software Development group.
Upon clicking Update, I get a Packages Not Found error:
Code:

Unlocateable package    Required by
netpbm                  ('netpbm-progs', '9.24', '12.1.1')
XFree86-libs            ('XFree86-twm', '4.3.0', '55')
XFree86-libs            ('XFree86-xfs', '4.3.0', '55')
XFree86-libs            ('XFree86', '4.3.0', '55')

I have already run rpm --rebuilddb

rpm thinks all of this stuff has been installed:
Code:

[root@www tmp]# rpm -q netpbm
netpbm-9.24-12.1.1
[root@www tmp]# rpm -q netpbm-progs
netpbm-progs-9.24-12.1.1
[root@www tmp]# rpm -q XFree86-libs
XFree86-libs-4.3.0-55
[root@www tmp]# rpm -q XFree86-twm
XFree86-twm-4.3.0-55
[root@www tmp]# rpm -q XFree86-xfs
XFree86-xfs-4.3.0-55
[root@www tmp]# rpm -q XFree86
XFree86-4.3.0-55

WTF???
Any help is appreciated.

 looks like redhat-config-packages is just crap from the get-go:

I am seeing the exact same problem. How do you fix this?

Same problem here - of course, with different rpms.

So, on another post (possibly another site), there is a program called "red-carpet" at http://www.ximian.com that was recommended. I installed it and ran it. Cleared up the problem. Nice this is that you can run it in parrallel with up2date!!! I just downloaded the red-carpet and not the gui, though I imagine the desktop gui works just fine. In the meantime, I will chalk this up to an apparently long standing bug with RH software...

my solution was to use yum. there are other alternatives out there too. just find something else besides redhat-confound-packages :D
