nvidia+ntfs...am i SOL?

hello all. i'm very new to linux, and to these forums, so hi! first of all. second, i switched from mandrake 9.2 to fedora core a bit ago, i was having trouble with RPM's and decided to switch. i would like to be able to at least read from my ntfs HDD partitions, my main OS is windows XP, and that's where a lot of my files are. however, when i upgraded to the new kernel, the nvidia driver had problems and didnt work, due to incompatibilities. would it be more work than it's worth to get the nvidia drivers working with the new kernel? my computer's a 2400+, 512 megs ram, gf4 ti 4600, and it dual boots between windows xp and fedora core (i can choose either the old kernel, which i'm using now, or the new one). thanks for your time!

i cant really help with the nvidia problem, but go to http://linux-ntfs.sourceforge.net/index.html for a the ntfs problem.
i have fedora core 2, and i got the ntfs kernel thing from there and it works
