Nvidia graphic drivers and kernel version
 

I downloaded the newest version of nvidia installer. I run it but (of course) it didnt recognize my kernel. Its kernel from planet ccrma with low latency. So my question is can i boot in the default fedora kernel and install then nvidia and then happily run ccrmakernel with nvidia supported drivers. Or what could be the way to get 3d capabilities.

You can't do the Nvidia drivers first and then update your kernel (well you can, but the drivers will stop working once u run the new kernel) because the drivers have to be built for that particular kernel. The latest version (5336) should have support for the 2.6 series of the kernel.

He's right - you can't install for one kernel and then have it work for another.
Here's what I do for each new kernel - it might work for you:
I don't have the ccrma kernel, and I'm still running 2.4.x, so this might not work for you. (And 4496 isn't the newest driver, but the commands would be the same for 5336.)

Welll. Im playing with SuSE 9.0 nowadays. And i will install fedora again in hdb (my wife wants shes office and other things working) no experimental environments. But at least we are not going back to ..doze. Thank for your replys, very often i feel like totally newbie with linux but had to say thats the funny part in computing. It would be so boring if everything works out of box.

when i tried it on fedora core 2 test 1 it diddnt recognize it and diddnt find it in the online database, but then just compiled a module itself to make it work, does it not do that for you?

With the 5000 series of drivers from nVidia, you don't have to
export CC=gcc32 anymore. Of course, you MUST have the source code
for the kernel installed

So what to do if the source code for a particular kernel is no longer provided? The planetccrma kernel is a couple of releases behind the FC kernel and the kernel-devel package is no longer available.
