I am having the same problems as JustOl'Bob and I am not sure what to do.
I don't even have a /usr/src/nv folder so i don't know were to start.

The way i am exiting x-server is by hiting Ctrl Alt F1 from the GUI to get to the logon. I log on as root then type init 3. After trying the instalation I type init 5 to get back to the GUI.
You can also get back to the GUI by hiting Ctrl Alt F7 if x-server is already running.
