ntfs support on fc4


hallo all

i would like to install a kernel module on my fc4 so i can see my ntfs drive

cam someone please give me a link or something to this kind of kernel module

and a tutorial for installing it?

well if the kernel does not have ntfs support for NTFS FS
you can check that by
cat /proc/partitions

You will get a list of supported partitions
also try
modprobe ntfs

if you want to avoid kernel compilation and install the kenrel module then visit
http://linux-ntfs.sourceforge.net/

i installed the rpm and it works now


but i have a new problem

i mounted /dev/hdb2 on /mnt/fat32

that is a fat32 partiton that i have

and now i can see it but not write to it....

how can i wirte to a fat32 partiton?

edit your /etc/fstab, add an entry for your fat32 partition, and add as an option (last column) umask=000

The kernel doesn't have full write support yet if ever. Ms will never release any source code. if you need safe write support google captive-ntfs or you can create a small fat32 partition to share files with windows.

what line am i supose to add so i can write to my fat32 partiton?

add

/dev/hdb2/ mnt/fat32 vfat umask=000 0 0

Someone check that, im still a bit of a newb to linux!
