NTFS module downloads for Fedora

This was posted earlier by ed-mtnbiker in a different thread but I thought it was was good enough information to have it's own subject. If you're installing Fedora to dual boot with Windows and want to have your NTFS partitions mounted, you'll have to download the module for it and you can get the one you need here:

http://linux-ntfs.sourceforge.net/

after installing, do a 'modprobe ntfs' to start it.

There are a few newer kernal versions than what is listed there. How long does it take for that page to be updated?

If you don’t mind compiling a custom kernel, there is already a module option for NTFS Read Only under File Systems in Linux Kernel Configuration (i.e., Fedora /usr/src/linux-2.4/make xconfig). There is also an NTFS Write option, if you want to take a walk on the wild side. I selected NTFS Read Only for a custom kernel based on 2.4.22-1.2174.nptl last week, but never tried to mount an NTFS partition with it.

New kernel versions have an option you can choose inder filesystems, shen selecting modules. No need for downloading RPMs.
