yes.... but, i hardly download it from the mirrors. most of the mirrors, they prompt me an authentication. how should i download it...?

Bobmeister 11-05-2003 06:40 PM

It doesn't appear that the mirrors have it yet, if and when you can get through. I have a slow connection to the main site will be busy for a while

Mirrorball 11-05-2003 07:48 PM

BitTorrent! It's very fast. I highly recommend it.

thespirit 11-06-2003 06:13 PM

Definately use Bittorrent. I just have cable modem and mine downloaded all 3 CDs in about 8 hours.. Pretty nice since I couldn't even get to the main site to download it and any mirror I found wouldn't even come close to letting me in.

I still have mine running to help out all the people trying to download it. :)

i've tried from mirror too... and until now i can't download it "Site refused to accept connection".... how can i get it.

yenonn 11-07-2003 12:56 AM

For people having a dual boot with Windows and of course Linux, you can use a download manager like GetRight in Windows to download the ISOs. When setup properly, the download manager will search directly (not having to try the mirror links in the Fedora web site...) and will find all the mirrors where the ISOs are located. Then, you can see which mirrors have good access speed (i.e. ping timing), select the right one and even switch when starting to be slow...

With that, I downloaded the 3 ISOs a lot lot lot faster than 8 hours... Of course, I have a cable modem and, with one file at a time, I was getting about 370 Kbps download speed yesterday morning.

thespirit 11-07-2003 08:20 AM

370k?! I wish my modem would even think about going that high... The service in our area is throttled to the 1.5Mbps.. I get 160k - 180k tops..

Hi thespirit,

I live in Quebec, Canada and, up there, high speed Cable and DSL modem is widespread. We have very good infrastructure!

I'm glad to see that you are happy with BitTorrent!

Everybody is entitled to use the tools they are comfortable with.

I also got it with bittorrent. I got it in about 5 hours off

Now to check it out.....

ronss 11-07-2003 04:37 PM

installed bit torrent, it does seem to pick up the download speed nicely
