no wine functionality, ?

I know wine threads are probably getting tedious but I'm just out of ideas. A while ago I was able to use wine to play quite a few games and run basically everything I needed, but in the past few months, while trying to run say Return to Castle Wolfenstein, wine crashes with
4038: assertion failed "(*(const char*)_DBUS_FUNCTION_NAME) != '_'" file "dbus-connection.c" line 2877 function _dbus_connection_read_write_dispatch
err:xrandr:X11DRV_XRandR_SetCurrentMode Resolution change not successful -- perhaps display has changed?
X Error of failed request: BadLength (poly request too large or internal Xlib length error)
Major opcode of failed request: 145 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 29 ()
Serial number of failed request: 2400

Quake2 crashs with virtually the same messege. And so have a few other thigs. So it's an overall problem. I seem to remember the last time rtcw worked fine was before updating the nvidia kernel module.The only threads I've been able to find are specific and this here seems to be a general issue.

Okay, I can't help with the Wine problem but I can point you in the direction of native clients for RtCW and Quake 2 which is probably easier

thanks cs-cam ...I'm aware of the native clients. I'm having trouble withe the quake2 rpms and loki installer ...can't even begin to tell you ...but I'm more concerned with wine's behaviour at the moment.
