No sound with TVtime

Hi.

I've been searching these boards, googleing, & reading Wiki articles for days, and I can't solve this problem. That squishy sound you hear is my head banging against the wall.

I recently did a complete upgrade/re-install to FC5. I can't get sound out of my Hauppauge WinTV card. It uses the bt878 chipset.

I have the jumper installed. I hooked up an iPod to my line in of the soundcard and get sound, and I hooked the output of the Tv card to my amp, no sound. So the problem is definately no sound from the card.

I think the problem is in a module somewhere, but don't know enough about it to even ask intelligent questions.

the output from lsmod is:

The output from dmesg | grep bttv is:

bttv0: PLL can sleep, using XTAL (28636363)

From all I've read, I think there should be more to dmesg than that.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide. When you answer, treat me like a newbie 'cause despite my join date, I still don't know alot about Linux.

Jumper cable?

If so, then all you should need to do is fire up your sound mixer and unmute/adjust the "line in" volume.

Nope... its not the mixer. When I connect an iPod to the line in on my soundcard, I get sound. The mixer is working. When I hook the line-out of the Tv card directly to my amp, there is no sound.

Try alsamixer -c1 it should be the mixer for the bt87x which is your card if you see m there highlight the setting and hit again m to unmute and see if this helps.
