My modprobe.conf has no options bttv. I have added three diferent options from the BTTV list, all the AverMedia cards that I found, but the TV continues without sound.

When I test sound, Desktop --> System Configuration --> Sound Card Detection, it is OK, also the vendor, model and module.

I don't find a driver for the TV Card (AverMedia Studio). In the AverMedia page the drivers are only for Windows. So I don't know where to get a proper version of driver. Anyone does it know?. I really think this is the problem.

Saludos

All TV cards based on the Brooktree/Connexant chipset use the same BTTV driver under Linux. Good luck.

I really don't know well this matter. When I write /sbin/lsmod in a terminal, TVTime running, I get (this is a selection):
Module Size Used by
bt878 10457 0
tuner 27121 0
tvaudio 22757 0
bttv 161393 2 bt878
video_buf 23749 1 bttv
i2c_algo_bit 9289 1 bttv
v4l2_common 5825 1 bttv
btcx_risc 4937 1 bttv
tveeprom 13017 1 bttv
i2c_core 21569 5 tuner,tvaudio,bttv,i2c_algo_bit,tveeprom
videodev 9537 2 bttv

I am surprised. If bt878 is used by 0 and bttv is used by 2 bt878, the bttv module has no influence in my TV Card (based on bt878). Is this OK? Afterwards nobody is using tvaudio module.

I am going to leave the question in stand-by a time. I must reflect on and learn more about the modules. I shall return with or without solution!

Gracias a todos.

Hmmm, I was just about to give you a RTFM reply, but it appears FC4 is missing the BTTV documentation!! I found this current CARDLIST file on web though:
http://www.linuxtv.org/v4lwiki/index.php/Cardlist.BTTV

anyway, it looks like you no longer use a modules.conf section to pass the card type, but rather as a parm to insmod. Same v4l wiki above covers this as well:
http://www.linuxtv.org/v4lwiki/index...#General_hints

Sorry I can't be of more help, but having never had any problems with my Hauppague card I really haven;t had to do much tweaking/fixing. Looks like some things changed with BTTV in 2.6 kernel though. Maybe someone else here can provide further hand-holding.

Finally I see TV, using TVTIME and XAWTV, with sound, not with my TV card but with an ancient VHS-video as tuner.

The final conclusion is that the AVERMEDIA's AVerTV Studio tuner card does not get the TV sound in Fedora Core 4 and maybe nor in Linux.

As I have used an EUROCONECTOR and an very old VHS-Video device to get the solution, I think is not so general as to explain here. If anyone is interested, mail to me.

Thanks everybody!

Suggest that you look at tvtime --help. Try manually setting --mixer=/dev/mixer:line.
