newbie trying to run FC2 on a p166 fujitsu lifebook

Hi I am a noob trying to configure a minimal install of FC2 on an old Fujitsu Lifebook. I ran the minimum install option from graphical mode and it did exactly what I hoped it would do, crammed FC2 into less than 600 mb. I was expecting to install XFree86 or Xorg but I do not know how. I am in the middle of acquiring a CLUE (In other words I have no idea what I am doing from the command line) Is Linux From Scratch a good option. Following is a simple breakdown:

Tools:

1 Fujitsu Lifebook 565Tx running a Pentium 166 with a cdrom and 2Gb HDD.
-I wish to configure it to do basically just run Abiword, Scribus, GNUCash and Firefox/Thunderbird

1 Asus/P4 based Desktop Sysem running FC2.

How do I Install and configure FC2 graphically on the laptop.

Thank you for your consideration

ps I am not expecting a step by step if you do not have the time I am more than happy to head to wherever you may direct me.

you installed the minimal set, which as far as i know does not install X11/XOrg, KDE, Gnome, etc. it's just CLI, bascially for servers and such. you need to boot from the install cd again, and choose the custom option. you'll find the "Base Graphic System" as well as "Gnome" already checked. Under Office you'll find Abiword. Firefox and Thunderbird you'll have to install later, as they're not included yet in distros (likely not until they hit 1.0). Basically, you choose at the very first prompt whether to install using the graphical interface or not.

i imagine it would take a week to compile LFS on a p166. I know it takes 12 hours to install it on my 1.1 ghz pc

I also use an older notebook daily (compaq presario 1240 - P-MMX 266MHz, 64MB SDRAM, 4GB HDD), and I tried FC1 on it (text install - its NOT command line, don't even try using graphical install on a computer that old, text is so much faster anyway, I used text install on my P4 2.6GHz), and it's just unbareably slow. So I run a dual boot between Win98SE and Debian Woody, with Debians old packages it works great with that laptop, using the beautiful KDE2. But, I still find myself using Windows more on that computer, 98SE with it's low memory requirements just kills linux in performance, unless you run RH 6.5 or something.
