Alright, I am a Windows guru but I just recently tried out FC6 - so I am a newbie

It installed great, boots great - but I don't have the 3d accelerated nvidia drivers, so I acquired the .run package from the nvidia website.

Now - I know I have to be logged in as "root" under "runlevel 3"

I go to run the package, and it tells me that I need to build the module?

Questions - how do I set up a module so that I can install these drivers
What is the correct lingo? What is "Yum" and how can I use it? Is there any way I can get these drivers to install without having to download more things, what command should I use to "prepare the kernal for the nvidia module" - i guess....

Is there a complete newbie tutorial on linux out there which explains how this all works?

forget all that, just follow the instructions at livna.org. makes it seamless for fedora.
