Talking NEWBIE Dance!!!!!

Alright! Time to JINKS myself

I have been playing around with LINUX for a short time now and have to say that I have FC2 exactly the way I want it. Mostly inpart of this website.

Here's the breakdown:
ASUS A7N8X-E deluxe
AMD 2.6
1 Gig RAM
Maxtor 200 Gig HD
Samsung LCD monitor
Radeon 9200SE
Matshita cd-rw cw-8123
and a SilverStone HT case (black)

As you can see it's not a gaming machine. I set it up as a server, and really like the ASUS MOBO with it's dual NIC's. I run a LAN in my house/office and also have a external web, mail, FTP, and Data base services. I upgraded MySQL to 4.X and am running Qmail instead of sendmail. ( Qmail does rock! )

I also did a lot of desktop cutomizing along the way as well. Not only downloading Firefox, Mplayer and the like, but adding their icons and links to the system menus.

There's alot more but I don't want to bore you- I am just happy with all the work I have done. Now I'm going to write a little How-To for myself in case I have to reinstall or if I need to remember something in the future. I did create a file with all the RPM's and Src's so they are readily available.

I knew I was in trouble when I started flipping through the GNOME site eyeballing 2.8, then started looking at FC3...... I guess I will try FC3T2 on my LFS partition.

Like I said in the begining, I recieved alot of help from this site and most of the info was already listed here.

Great Site

-Mike
