new user creation - password wonky ??
I tried to create a new user account (using the users gui in FC2) and when I try to log the user in via FTP it says the user name is correct, but the password is wrong. When I go back to edit the user's password the 7 character password I entered is now a 5 character password and I don't have any clue what that password is. So I changed the password ~again~ and once more the same result - the 7 digit password has changed to a 5 digit password.
I tried to create another new user with a different name and a different password and recreated the same problem. I've done this successfully within the last three days. I just wanted to create a new user with a different default directory. Am I missing something? |
I rebooted and the problem went away. Weird though.

Core 2: Password still wonky
I've got the same problem, but mine doesn't go away with rebooting:
Newbie Red hat user. Installed FC2 on AMD box. Root user still has the password given. My own user and some test users configured through the user manager have new 5 digit (instead of 7) passwords that I don't know. Changing the passwords in the user manager doesn't work I can login to the system as Root, but this thong freaks me out. Any Fedora buff got a solution? thanx |
