New GRUB worry after Update

When I updated/upgraded my Fedora Core 2 system I updated the kernel along with most other possible files. Now when GRUB comes up, I have a 3rd option to select and it appears to be the new update.

Does this mean I have 2 installed now? Ack! If so, how do i get rid of the old one or fix GRUB to show the proper one?

You need to uninstall your old kernels and their entries will be removed from grub. Do as root
Code:
#rpm -qa | grep -i kernel
a list of installed kernels will be listed, so just remove the ones you don't need by doing
Code:
#rpm -e kernel-version

Thanks for the help.
This is what the first command without the # sign did:

kernel-2.6.5-1.358
kernel-source-2.6.5-1.358
kernel-2.6.10-1.771_FC2
kernel-utils-2.4-9.1.131_FC2

I'm confused if i remove the 2.6.5 and source will the 2.6.10 work without kernel-source? Which should i get rid of , if any?

You are not supposed to bump your threads unless you have not got a reply in 24 hours because this sites members live in various time zones so may not have seen your question.

You do not need the kernel source for the kernel to work on your system. The kernel source you have installed is not for the new kernel, so you have to uninstsll it and make sure you install the source for the 2.6.10-1.771_FC2 kernel.

As for the "#", you are not supposed to type it into your commands, its there to indicate that the command is run as root. If there is a "$" sign, it means the commands are run as a normal user.

Ahhh,
Sorry for the impatience on my part, a bit of frustration with having to dump my Redhat 8.0 for Fedora to run some more up to date programs. Thanks for the help and info on posts.

Can you point me in the right direction to download the source? Not sure why I need it then if the kernel will run fine.

Again thanks for the help, ill be more patient

I can't remember exactly how the kernel-source was installed in FC2 (you should really have upgraded to FC3 or even better FC4), so do a google search.

Err, remember you can only uninstall packages as root.
