Needing root privs to start LAMPP server

Hello

I am using FC3 and have installed XAMPP-Linux (LAMPP in its former life) my question is this, I have to be in root ( or have root privs) to start xampp. is there a faster way for me to start it than have to go through terminal everytime having typing:
Code:
su

***********(password)

/opt/lampp/lampp start
I tried setting up a custom app launcher but I cant set up the root privs in that so it just lets me know that I have to be root to start it. can I get xampp to start when linux boots up? or is there a way that I can set up the app launcher to do it for me?

regards

Paul

There's three things you need if you want to do this "the right way": an initscript living in /etc/rc.d/init.d that will start XAMPP, "chkconfig --add xampp" so it stops and starts in the designated runlevels and Sudo installed and configured to allow your unprivileged user to start or stop /etc/rc.d/init.d/xampp (without asking for a password) as root user. This looks like much work but it isn't. If these hints aren't enough to get you going we could throw in some steps and examples.
