need to change default programs for mp3

I downloaded xmms rpm - works fine, but I have to drag a file to the open player for it to work. If I double click on a file, another program comes up that does not work How do I redirect xmms to be the default player?

Also, is there an easy (like self installing) way to get mpegs to work?

i'm guessing your using gnome and you're using fedora.

on the folder that contains an mp3 file, right click on it and choose "Open With", if XMMS isn't under there, choose Other Application.., if it's still not there, there should be a link to open up the "File Types and Properties". Under the selection, "Program to Run", type "xmms", "xmms -e" if you want it to enque

hope that helps, because i have gnome 2.6, so some of the things might be different depending on which version of Gnome you have.
