I can not seem to get a wireless connection using ndiswrapper and my emachines M5310 laptop. I know the laptop uses the bm44 chipset and I have managed to follow the instructons from
ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/index.php/Installation#Installation
Sorry about not just posting a link above. I'm a new user and I don't have permission to post links yet
Unfortunately when I check the system log produced by 'dmesg' instead of getting a:
ndiswrapper version <version> loaded
I get:
bcm43xx: PHY connected
bcm43xx: Error: Microcode "bcm43xx_microcode4.fw" not available or load failed.
bcm43xx: core_up for active 802.11 core failed (-2)
I am running Fedore 5 kernel version 2.6.18-1.2200.fc5 using the newest stable 1.27 ndiswrapper. The windows driver I am trying to install is bcmwl5a.inf.
I am a complete newb to Linux, so I am probably missing soemthing really stupid along the way. I've tried reading every post I can find but still no luck.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
