Nautilus Alternatives

Correct me if I am wrong, but an alternative to the Nautilus graphical file manager exists by the name "foonar" or "phonar." Basically, I need Nautilus alternative recommendations. Thanks.

FYI:
FC4 is being used.

maybe "Thunar", which is part of xfce??

And yes, I think it's a great alternative to Nautilus

I took a look at those screenshots, and I don't see that Thunar is much different from Nautilus when in Browser mode.

I am and have been an FC user since core 1 test 3 and I very much dislike the default setting for Nautilus, but I always edit the config to always use browser mode, and it works just as I would want it to work. Filesystem Tree in the left frame, current directory view in the right frame, and all the navi-goodies at the top where they "should" be.

If you are frustrated with the default setup of Nautilus as I generally am, you might just want to try changing that setting first and save yourself some time.

You can do that in Gnome from the configuration editor:
apps -> nautilus -> preferences -> always_use_browser
