Unhappy MySQL 5.0.27 + Fedora 6, Cannot Start Service

Hi! I've been trying to start MySQL server service that comes with Fedora 6 without any success.

I'm getting the following error:

Timeout error occurred trying to start MySQL Daemon.

This is the log file:

/usr/libexec/mysqld: Can't create/write to file '/tmp/ibe21uGt' (Errcode: 13)

081116 17:54:42 [Note] /usr/libexec/mysqld: Shutdown complete
081116 17:54:42 mysqld ended

I've granted all access to tmp directory by chmod 777 and I'm still getting an error...

Any help would be much appreciated!!!

From the error there may be a hung mysql process as the socket is in use. check the ownership of /var/lib/mysql, are u using the init script to do this ?

Hi.. I granted all premisions to the folder /var/lib/mysql and I'm still getting the same error
drwxrwxrwx 5 mysql mysql 4096 nov 16 17:54 mysql

I do not have a /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock file in my filesystem
Regarding your other question I'm using this script to start the service:

/etc/init.d/mysqld start

I don't know what else to do
