my user name in fedora got Knoppix added

I am running Fedora Core 1 on a dual boot win98 system.
I also ran Knoppix, and now my user name prompt has been changed to myname@Knoppix:\~ when running FEDORA.

What does this mean? Is it a glitch or is it something important.

Also recently noticed that when I shut down Fedora
it says : Cannot shut down Canna server as this is controlled by another machine

Has someone hacked my computer? Are these two things related?
thanks
Almost newbie

It looks like, some how your hostname got changed. Have a look at /etc/sysconfig/network and see what the HOSTNAME= parame4ter is set to. If it has been set to Knoppix, edit it as root, save the file, and do a 'service network restart' as root and try again.

I had a look to find out what the Canna server is. Here is what I found.

The Canna server, used for Japanese character input, has two security vulnerabilities including an exploitable buffer overflow that allows a local user to gain 'bin' user privileges. Updated packages for Red Hat Linux Advanced Server are available.

So, are you in need of the server? If not I would look into killing it.

Don't know if you have been hacked, it is not as easily done in Linux as in windoze. If you think you have been, look into the many security threads on this board. Also there are some how-to's to provide basic security.
