Music Player mp3 plugins for FC-2

Hi, I am breaking my head over FC-2 for not so long. However, I have dual boot with 1.2 Ghz intel processor and two (20GB & 40GB) seagate harddisks. As a novice, I first time placed the bootloader in my MBR and subsequently when I have had to reinstall my XP on a new partition( both the OS are on same disk hda)my FC-2 did not boot. I searched the net and experimented on many options but although the dual boot option screen did appear, but when FC-2 was seleted it gave various error messages. So, ultimately I reinstall the FC-2 and updated everything with yum install packagename. But My Music Player failed to recognise the mp3 files. My yum gstremer-plugin-mp3 fails with "no action to take". Any help/suggestion will be highly appreciated.

Cheers

Your problem with dual-booting is a result of FC2 slaughtering the disk geometry, a rather frustrating bug. You might want to go to a newer distribution.

The MP3 player that I've used with the most success is xmms-mp3. Use Yum to install gstreamer-plugins-ugly and xmms-mp3, a good place to look is http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Fedora-Multime...llation-HOWTO/ .

Be aware that if you go to FC6, there is another frustrating bug with the kernel architecture not matching the system (586 kernel being installed where a 686 kernel should). I had great luck with FC5 though.
