"multimedia" keyboard

Ok, I have a keyboard with a little knob on it for controlling and muting the sound. My question of course is: How do I get this to work in linux? It gets detected automatically in windows and runs fine, but not with linux. Is there any support for this type of thing? Because they are extremly useful.

Depending on your distro and GUI (KDE/Gnome/...) there are apps to do this for you. Look for something like 'keybindings' or 'multimedia keys' or similar.

I use 'mmkeys'. I forget the website, a quick google should give you the correct website. It's really simple to setup - it uses a config file in your home directory.

There was "Keyboard shortcuts" under prefferences and it works greats. Thanks a ton, I can't beleive I missed that. I think the last time I tried it didn't work for some reason :\ Well it works now.
