Simply run:
# mplayer my_quicktime_video.mov

If you mean quicktime videos in the browser, use:
http://mplayerplug-in.sourceforge.net/

You'll need to find out if you have the correct codec installed:

mplayer -vc help

if quicktime is not on your list then you'll have to D/L and install the codecs from here:

http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/codecs.html

Try loading some sample quicktime files and note the output such as:

==========================================================================
Cannot find codec matching selected -vo and video format 0x3032346A.
Read DOCS/HTML/en/codecs.html!
==========================================================================

I have found that some QT files will work and other have problems so it's probably due to how the file was encoded.

Try several diff files and try to narrow the problem from their.

You could perhaps goto www.firefoxflicks.com and check the quicktime *.mov files flicks and see if it plays in the browser. I was using firefox and after installing mplayer packages from http://freshrpms.net , and using mplayer plugin from the site as Mjmwired had said you could easily view the quicktime files.

Mplayer packages from http://freshrpms.net have lots of dependencies but you would be able to install it if you download all dependent packages from http://freshrpms.net

Wish you a very good luck.
