Unhappy Mplayer

I use fedora Core3 but recently tried to switch to core4 but the problem i am facing is regarding installing Mplayer. It seems that core4 has a new gcc lib ie 4 but Mplayer needs 3.X for compilation, HOW DO I GET IT DONE! and I am also keen on knowing are there similar problems in Core5

There's a pretty good howto at http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mplayer-fedora.html. I'd recommend having a read through it since it worked for me with FC4 a while back.

Or you can not compile from source and instead install it with:
* add Livna
* "yum install mplayer"
