mounting cdrom fail under Fedora

Hi,

I have just installed Fedora Core yesterday and encountered the following problem:

When I try to mount the cd driver (Liteon) using the normal mount command the following error messages appear:
/dev/cdrom is not a valid block device
or
/dev/scd0 is not a valid block device

The fstab file contains the following two lines for the cdrom:
dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom iso9660 noauto,user,ro 0 0
dev/scd0 /mnt/cdrecorder iso9660 noauto,user,ro 0 0 <-- I added this line just to test

I have JDS and the cd is mounted normally.

try "/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom iso9660 noauto,ro,user 0 0" or"/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom iso9660 noauto 0 0"

goodluck.

Try to use /dev/hdc or /dev/hdd instead of /dev/cdrom
('cos may be scsi emulation is disabled)

Which command are you using to mount the CDrom? Are you mounting /dev/cdrom or /mnt/cdrom?

You need to mount the /mnt/cdrom rather than the /dev/cdrom.

Also, did you enable scsi emulation on the boot loader?

In the /boot/grub/grub.conf file, see if there is a line that states hdc=ide-scsi anywhere on the page. If there is, that drive is scsi emulated.

mine looks like this:

default=0
timeout=10
splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
title Fedora Core (2.4.22-1.2174.nptl)
root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.22-1.2174.nptl ro root=LABEL=/ hdc=ide-scsi rhgb
initrd /initrd-2.4.22-1.2174.nptl.img
