Mount CD Writer

Hi.
I am trying to user encode2mpeg to create a vcd. I want to directly burn this image, but for this i have to specify the cdburn device.
I tried specifying the device as : -cdburndevice /dev/hdc, but I get the error : ERROR: [encode2mpeg] cdrdao missing, cannot burn S/VCD.

So i tried to mount it to a directory :
[root@localhost ~]# mount /dev/hdc /media/cdrecorder/ /dev/hdc: Invalid argument
mount: block device /dev/hdc is write-protected, mounting read-only
/dev/hdc: Invalid argument
mount: /dev/hdc: can't read superblock

So i tried
[root@localhost ~]# mount -t iso9660 -rw /dev/hdc /media/cdrecorder/
mount: block device /dev/hdc is write-protected but explicit `-w' flag given

How do I specify my cd writer device?

From the line:
[encode2mpeg] cdrdao missing, cannot burn S/VCD.

It looks like you just need to install cdrdao:
http://cdrdao.sourceforge.net/

A couple things to check:
1) Make sure that hdc is actually your CD burning device and make sure that it actually exists
Code:
$ ls -l /dev/hdc
If it doesn't exist, you might have to create it
Code:
# mknod /dev/hdc b 22 0
# chmod 0644 /dev/hdc
2) Make sure that you have read-write permissions set properly for the device
Code:
# chmod 0644 /dev/hdc
NOTE: if you really don't have /dev/hdc and you know that you physically have such a device (master disk on your second IDE cable), something went wrong when you installed. Normally all the devices you need (and then some!) are already in the /dev directory.

That problem was solved after I installed cdrdao :-)

Now the problem is that to create an image it is asking for the path of cd-i config files. What is this?

I am also having a problem similar to this.
When i try to mount one of my cd-drives I ger this error,

/dev/hdc: Input/output error
mount: /dev/hdc: can't read superblock

/dev/hdb: Input/output error
mount: /dev/hdb: can't read superblock

The entries for my cd-drives in my fstab look like this:

/dev/hdc /media/cdrecorder auto pamconsole,fscontext=system_ubject_r:removable_t,ro,exec,noauto,managed 0 0
/dev/hdb /media/cdrom auto pamconsole,fscontext=system_ubject_r:removable_t,ro,exec,noauto,managed 0 0

Why are my harddrives labeled /dev/hdx instead of /dev/cdrom?
How can i mount these in their current config?

You will only be able to mount the drives if there is a disk in it with a valid filesystem on it. You do not need to mount audio cds.
