Am I wrong or did I not install my graphics card drivers correct?
I just downloaded the RPM file - extracted it I guess and then ran the fglrxconfig utility to run through all the settings w/ the questions it asks me.
Am I suppose to mod some XFree86 file as well or is this something just for Fedora Core 2?
Ok, the word from others is when I run the "fglrxconfig" in console it brings up 20 question utility that rights to the XFree86 file with out you manually having to do it.
I have been able to patch and manually build the module (build_mod/make.sh). I am now having a problem running the make_install.sh.
Code:
- trying a sample load of the kernel module
FATAL: Error inserting fglrx (/lib/modules/2.6.5-1.358/kernel/drivers/char/drm/fglrx.ko): Operation not permitted
failed.
I have looked at the make_install.sh file and found that it's having trouble with the modprobe $module command. I have also found the module fglrx.ko at /lib/modules/2.6.5-1.358/kernel/drivers/char/drm but it is not executable (-rw-r--r--). I thought that maybe that was the problem but modprobe still won't work. Maybe I'm getting to far into this but I'm going to follow the instructions found in the other thread and see if downloading and compiling the kernel will work.
The install script has failed to insert the module about half the time I've installed these drivers. Did you then try modprobe fglrx yourself? That usually works for me, confirmed by an lsmod |grep fglrx-- especially since the test load unloads the module immediately anyway (apparently), and from what I can gather, the module is meant to be loaded when you actually run fglrxconfig.
