mininum installation

Hi

I need to install Fedora 5 minimum system to do some c++ programing
using emacs and then connect to a company server using their supplied
client program on the Internet. I would like to install X-window and
icewm, nothing fancy, minimum GUIs. do I have to download all the 5 cd
iso images as listed at
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Distribution/Download
I remember with debian it was only one cd and the way you go.

thanks

There's just been a post about this.
I said I only used the 1st 2 discs for the default desktop with gnome. But then it was pointed out that if you ask for a program that's on a disk you haven't got. the instal fails.
So depends where you're priority is. If you don't mind having to reinstall, you could just try the first 2. Then if it asks for one of the others. you'll need to start again.
And the basic desktop doesn't include development or programing tools. I also didn't install emacs, but there wasn't much used from disk 2.

I am going to buy the dvd pack (64 bit DVD-R), I have pentium 3 on a 5 year old mb, most likely it is 32 bit, will the 64 bit DVD-R Fedora 5 work?

I don't thonk I'd try it, you'd be much better off with 32 bit.
