Major help

ok i really mess up my FC4 box. I was doing some installs of rpms and the last thing i installed was the java bin file, but i put it in the "opt" folder and next i added the java.sh file to the /etc/profile.d/ i did a chroot of the java.sh file. i rebooted and try'd to login thinkin java would work and got this message:

/etc/X11//gdm/Presession/Default: Registering your session with wtmp and utmp
/etc/X11//gdm/Presession/Default: running : /usr/X11R6/bin/sessreg -a -w /var/log/wtmp
/etc/profile.d/krb5.sh: line 1: grep: command not found
/etc/profile.d/krb5.sh: line 4: grep: command not found
/etc/profile.d/krb5.sh: line 5: id: command not found
/etc/profile.d/krb5.sh: line 5: [: =: unary operator expected
Faild to execute message bus daemon: no such file or directory
EOF in dbus-launch reading address from bus daemon

Thats the whole message i get. Any help would be very usefull.

I'm not sure what te java.sh file does but it sounds like it is over writing the $PATH variable, hence its not finding commands.

There is a way to get at the file system via grub (not sure hoe though) then you could delete the java.sh file and reboot.

Also all those scripts are called from /etc/profile so you could call the scripts first instead of last.

Good luck
