Love Fedora 8
 

At last I have 3D again on my sis motherboard, for some reason FC6 & 7 wouldn't do 3D, now I can run googleearth again.

It also "sees" my SD card in the card reader, that also didn't happen in earlier versions.

Don't have to modify "fstab" to boot my other partitions, they're all on the desktop waiting to be clicked on.

And very impressed with the software installer, I was about to install skype the old way, when I accidentally "clicked" on the rpm file. Up comes the installer, asks if I want to install, then finds the dependencies, from the DVD and net, and it's all finished in a flash.

The more I use it the more I like it.

I stopped using Fedora for a while due to being unhappy with FC 2, 3 and 4. Fedora 7 was a huge improvement, and I am very happy with 8 (the x86_64 version runs flawless on my laptop).

After 3 months of debian I and not being able to get any GTK+ development tools working, I said I am switching to fedora, and man is it great. I love fedora too...

The development tools are incredible. Now that you mention x86_64 though I was thinking about installing that too instead of 386, the only problem is what about my madwifi drivers for my macbook? Will those only run on a 32-Bit version of fedora? or will they work for the x86_64 version... anyone know?

To my knowledge (I only use madwifi on my celeron lappy) it should work in x86_64

Ever since my first days with Linux, Fedora has always been my favorite distro, especially since FC3 (except for FC4 that I didn't bother to try). I have mixed feelings for F8 though. On my laptop, it's just great; works like a charm (except for the web cam and the wireless card but I don't even use them so it's not a big deal). However, when I tried it on my desktops I encountered too many bugs and working with it was so annoying that I switched back do F7. To me, it feels like they made F8 specifically for laptops.
