Loading kernel modules during boot.

Hello. I am running Fedora Core 1 with 2.4 kernel.
I have searched and read few posts regarding this, but what they suggested didn’t work.
I am trying to load kernel module (cryptoloop) during boot. If I do modprobe cryptoloop, it loads just fine. I have tried adding alias to /etc/modules.conf but the module still doesn’t load after reboot (at least when I did lsmod it didn’t show up). Loading that module from rc.loacal is not going to work. Please point me in right direction.
Thanks.

Hi.

Why wouldn't rc.local work?

because i wanted to encrypt home directories using loopback fs method and i thought by the time the rc.local runs it would be too late. correct me if i am wrong. Plus I thought it would be a cleaner way of loading modules using modules.conf, somehow
thnx

You could add it to rc.sysinit instead, before /home gets mounted.

I encrypt home directories using the same method, and I load the cryptoloop module via rc.local. give it a try.
