Lite-On LTR-40125S only burns cd-rw's not cd-r's

I've just completed a fresh FC3 install and updated udev to udev-039-10.FC3.6. I'm running a stock install except for the udev update (I only have a modem connection) - 2.6.9-1.667, and have a Lite-On LTR-40125S cd burner. It worked just fine under RH9 and XP Pro. Now I can only burn to cd-rw's, not cd-r's. Here is the output from 'cdrecord -scanbus':

Cdrecord-Clone 2.01-dvd (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2004 Jrg Schilling

I can successfully burn a data cd to a cd-rw disk using both the Nautilus cd burner and k3b. However, when I attempt to burn to a blank cd-r this is what I get:

Also, I have to run k3b as root, I thought the udev update was supposed to take care of that . Does anyone have any ideas?

Sincerely,
