Most work. I didn't even bother checking before I bought mine - and it works.
Some sony model from newegg - I think $65.00 or so
It's a Sony DW-D22A-B2
Burns DVD-R at 4x (doesn't at 8x - I'm not sure why, but 4x is plenty fast)
Burns CD-R theoretically at 48x if you enable it on the drive, 40x if used standard.
I've only tried as fast at 24x (and it worked perfectly)
But most DVD/CD burners work fine in Linux.
At least ATAPI burners.
