Linux-Wlan Installing Help

I am installing the linux-wlan driver for my D-Link 520 PCI card and having no success as I have no idea what to do with horrible documentation to follow.

I start the configuration process and it ask me for a kernel source location. I figure out that I have to install a kernel source and find a file that isn't all that great to follow.

I download the latest stable version kernel off kernal.org and follow the instructions until I get to ls -alc and my output it nothing like the example and file linux doesn't work because there is no file linux.

I just need help to configure the driver to get my PCI card to work and if I don't get it figured out today I probably will buy a new PCI card that works with Linux if I can find one.

That page isn't there although I am navigating to where you were trying to send me.

I have reinstalled Fedora now three times and a new kernel twice. I don't like how everything keeps on messing up. I just need the source location during the configuration of linux-wlan but I haven't been able to find the original Fedora source as the kernels I am trying to make keep on messing up and I am sick and tired of this.

I got the driver to work easily when reinstalling and having the package kernel development installed (at least that is what I think did it), but after installing the driver and rebooting it asked me for the runlevel and I don't know what to put.

Yeah I found that one some page, but I had already reinstalled Fedora as I didn't know what to do and then when I go back to setup the driver I get errors when I go for the Linux source saying the .config isn't there when it is so if anyone can help that would be great.

I gave up on this and re-installed XP and I plan to eventually installed Slaskware as I heard that it had Prism2.5 support or if I get a new network card (I want a 3come) I will again try Linux.
