Linux Decides to hang with the internet

I recently installed linux with Fedora Core 2 it runs real smooth but when it comes to the internet it hangs some times when i use Mozilla I get about 5 minutes at the most but thats lucky. And with Gaim it freezes up when you add a new contact. I'm a newbie so please any help is appreciated and please don't hesitate to ask questions about my computer.

is ur internet going slowly or mozilla opening up late

I just installed Mandrake 10.1 i think Fedora Core 2 disk was scratched and became unusable.
but thanks anyway the internet would lock up the computer and get no responce it started to do it to normal programs too

hey i too am using fedora core 2 but i do not face any such problems with that

if u mean to say that FC2 was slower than mandrake, then the reason is FC2 needs to be tweaked a lot to make it working better
