Linus interview

According to a recent interview Linus runs Fedora 7 on most of his boxes. Although he states he doesn't nec. think Fedora is better than the rest, we all know the truth, AMIRITE? He *does* think Fedora > * but he just doesn't want to start a troll fest. What do you think?

AMIRITE??? Perhaps a new mineral not yet in the catalogs?

Linus is on record as not liking Gnome, so perhaps he uses Fedora + KDE.

Come on. Linus wouldn't even need to use Linux himself (ok, that would strike me as odd, but anyway), if he didn't want to. The guy is the "father" of Linux (as in "Linux the kernel"), not every piece of GNU software. He can't run just Linux, because in addition to the kernel some software is needed and no matter which distribution he'd pick up, somebody would pop up and say "heyyyy! now we all know the truth, Linus thinks this distro is the best!!! weewohoo!!!!) -maybe he just likes Fedora, it doesn't state that it's the best or it's what he considers the best. Linus might think Solaris is the best thing around; he might think Coyote Linux is the best thing around, but for daily use he just happens to use Fedora. Or he might have a thousand other reasons not to install Debian, Gentoo, Slackware, ... to all of the computers he uses.
Code:
According to a recent interview Linus runs Fedora 7 on most of his boxes.
Yeah. It could be 2501 out of 5000 (that's "most", >50%). Admit it, this is something stupid fans do when they hear their idol has just spit on the wall..

Very probably Bill Gates has installed Windows Vista on most of his computers (maybe 100% if he only had one), and still that doesn't mean Gates thinks *really* that Vista is the best thing on earth. I wouldn't.

I've installed several Microsoft Windows operating sysems on computers I deal with, more than Linuxes. And I do not "necessarily" think Windows is the best OS here. But I guess you would translate it like that.

Love to see how people take a post seriously even though it contains that "AMIRITE" (which IMHO made it CLEAR that I was joking). But anyway, always good to see people's reactions because it strikes out various characteristics. Anywho.

[For my "serious stance": I couldn't care less about what Linus uses.]

I would never switch distros because Linus used one or another, but I have always been curious as to what the master uses.

So here's what I think is the main point:
Quote:
I don’t really tend to care much, I’ve changed distributions over the years, and to me the most important thing tends to be that they are easy to install and upgrade, and allow me to do the only part I really care about - the kernel.
YMMV
