Linpus Lite -- Same as Fedora?
Hi, Linux newbie here. First question: A lot of websites are saying that Linpus Lite is based on Fedora, so as common sense goes, if I have questions about its processes, it would be correct to refer to guides on how one would do it on Fedora. Did I get that right?
Second question: If it is indeed based on Fedora, what version? And if I downloaded a particular application for Feadora 7 (for example, if that's the version that it's based on), does that mean that it work perfectly with my Linpus? Have been trying to install Comical 7 for Fedora 8 (for comic-book reading) using rpm but to no avail. :( Hope someone can clear this up for me. (an if he/she could kindly refer me to another cdisplay alternative that could work with linpus, plus installation instructions?) I'd be eternally grateful! |
This may seem like splitting hairs, but applications are written for Linux---not for specific distributions. They are typically packaged for specific distros, but, if app X works on one, then it can be made to work on any.

I have the same problem. I've downloaded the tar.gz file several times, but it doesn't extract correctly. I'm using Linpus Lite. Al |
The latest Linpus (9.6) is based on Fedora-9
Linpus-lite is based on Fedora-6. This should be binary compatible with RHEL-5, CentOS-5. The correct way should be install yum and say a gui for that |
